Just saw a DC only 200A tig inverter listed on ebay for $20 from China. Im not really expecting much for $20, but i cant see passing up $20.... what the hell....

Many of my friends and coworkers know I can weld. Sometimes they’ll approach me, maybe with a repair or project in mind, and say, “hey so since you’re a welder....” or “you know how to weld right?” At this point I’ll cut them off and simply say, “I’m not a welder, I’m a man who owns a welder.”

I've passed all examps and got myself a real official legit TIG 141 certificate, I was quite good at it, didn't take me much to learn it as I'm good at all the manual stuff...

Hi Tony. I'm looking to set up a compact, portable setup in a van as my workshop and home. This means the most compact setup possible and I've heard of 36V DC welding machines and I was thinking that with stick welding, it might do the job. Thoughts?

there is a company that makes welders that look like alternators. you install them in your car. might work? though you'll have to have the engine running.

Usually when something that rotates at high speed is broken, welding it isn't sufficient because they are usually forged or milled from high carbon steel. The welder will not be able to heat treat or impart carbon into the steel and it will break again.

Now I just gotta figure out how to justify grinding/cleaning coupons at 3am just 5 hours before my cubicle job calls.

If you dont position yourself in a comfortable way, your welds may not come out as good as you want of you can run into problems when doing projects where you will be welding for several hours at a time. My experiences taught me that 80 to 90 percent of welding is preparation, the remaining 10 to 20 percent is execution.
This becomes more apparent when you start doing open root welds with a back gas purge. Those are my favorite.

                                                                        • ss

                                                                      • Weavin01

Mr. Old Tony, I used to smoke wee... I mean Paint, professionally many moons ago. When we were freehand cutting in windows or door trim or whatever, we were taught to "draw the line" with our elbow. Meaning, focusing on our elbow to make a straight path as we ran the cut. As long as we did our part in holding the brush steady, it'd run a straight line every time. Painters also have their hands connected to their bodies by way of arm shoulders, so maybe that tip/technique could translate to welding?

IT is not easy to explain whats going on under the hood .But you my man have it covered .Great job , Alot of your videos are basic , But a large amount of info you put out there is very much needed in learning TIG.
